Just before my graphic novels found publishing homes, I worked with Abby Suckle at her architectural practice in Long Island City, which was a great time. I was supposed to be doing architecture, but Abby picked up on my love of watercolors and so put me on a project that she’d long been harboring: illustrating a book that would serve as a document of Cocktails & Conversations, a monthly event at the Center for Architecture curated by Abby and William Singer. The AIA describes it as “a series of dialogues about design that joins an architect with a critic, journalist, curator, or architectural historian to discuss current architecture design issues. Each program includes a custom-crafted cocktail—one inspired by the architect's work and created especially for this event.” You can buy the book here.
